Music: I have completed my Bis collection!

I have finally completed my Bis collection. To celebrate, here's a poster I created, listing every song Bis have (ever?) done.

Its as complete as I have been able to research and collect. This has taken me months and its cost me a fair bit too! Worth it though!

MUSIC REVIEW: Mark and Lard Vintage (50 years of Radio 1)

Today I listened to the one hour special of Mark and Lard that was broadcast yesterday on BBC Radio 1 Vintage, a 3 day special online radio station to celebrate Radio 1's 50 year anniversary. Seriously they have all sort of awesome throwback shows. catch them whilst they are still online to listen too!
I personally loved Mark and Lard. I was there listening to them during the breakfast and afternoon slots, but also occasionally there for the evening slots too before all that. They honed their talents though for their afternoon years. Im so please I managed to get hold of this special episode. I was even walking home after work today, listening to it on my phone, exactly like I was during the years of walking home from school, listening to them on the radio on my Walkman. The best bit though was listening to some parts I never managed to record and save for my personal collection of shows. What a nostalgia trip moment that was!!

MUSIC REVIEW: Gorrilaz- Humanz

I've just listened to the new Gorrilaz album on Spotify. My god, its terrible! 0_0 How did Damon decide that this mess was finished?!? 0_o Every song sounds terrible apart from 'We Got The Power'. That song was at least catchy, however it ends abruptly and falls too short. It could have done with having a second part to it, somehow. The rest of the tracks in the album are generic and highly forgettable. A bit like the songs in the first album (excluding the singles, those were good).
Overall, every singer in this new album sounds like they are singing to a melody that just isn't there. Damon's singing parts are equally as bad. He sings exactly the same way in every song, which mirrors his guests in this album, in that he's singing/rapping to a melody that doesn't match the actual music being played. Maybe the singers literally didn't have a melody to sing too when recording their parts??
There are 26 songs to this album, yet it seems like their shortest to date. Maybe this is for the best, as you can then go and listen to some decent, older, Gorrilaz tracks after you're done. This is easily the worst Gorrilaz album, including The Fall which was written during their American Tour 2010, and recorded within a week I believe.

Let the mania commence!

We are so close now to the release of SONIC MANIA! I say this every time a new Sonic game is released but I'm absolutely sure this will be the best game since Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Only time will tell whether it will be better, but its got everything nailed down so far, apart from the odd few remade Mega Drive songs where the base tones dont sound as heavy. But that's nitpicking. Tee Lopes has done an awesome job with the soundtrack, so far anyway. Here's a Fresh perspective of one of his remade songs.

MUSIC REVIEW: Helen Love- Day-Glo Dreams

The latest album from Helen Love callled 'Day-Glo Dreams' absolutely sucks. SUCKS! ITS SHIT!

Its like an album that was purely created in Garageband and completely rushed together. The non-rhyming lyrics suck so BAD that I end up cringing whilst facepalming.

All the songs suck. Not one of them is decent.

This band is supposed to be one of the most colourful sounding bands out there. Everything they make is like an audio orgasm; they are that good. However this album is shit. pure shit. do not touch.

Even the artwork looks basic and black and white.

Oh and there is no volume number assigned to it, meaning it makes it difficult for me to organise correctly on my MP3 player, and there is NO WAY im adding it to volume 3. Those songs are sacred.

They should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such utter garbage.

What the fuck happened to what was suppose to be their next album; "Stick it" ?????? I want that album, not this crap. Even the song which was posted to their myspace page that was suppose to be from that album sounded amasing.
Unfortunately I cant remember what it was called. I NEED THAT ALBUM.

I mean just listen to this shit- Be warned its really really bad-

Compare that to their last single Calm Down Dad (volume 3 issue 6) from 2009-

EDIT a few days later-
This album is crap. Ive heard it a few times thinking that i'll give it a chance. Some of the keyboard 'sounds' stick in your head and its doing my nut. The stupidly catchy eightiesness of the songs are dancing about in my head like an annoying bratty 5 year old child throwing his toys everywhere and streaming blue murder. I NEED other songs in my head. Anything other than this drivel. Its an evil album thats just there to be annoying. I need reminding that Helen Love is a decent pop group so I listen to a few songs from volume 2, but even after that i still hear syth drums in my head like a kids mashing all the drum keys on his Yamaha he got for his birthday. Fuck me I hate this album. I might even delete it its so evil. So annoying. So yeah ive given it a chance. Fuck it. 0-10. Not even 1 for trying.

The other day Nick Bertke AKA Pogo uploaded a new video to YouTube. The song was so good but too short so I spent 5 hours extending it. Give it a listen-

MUSIC: review: Daft Punk- Random Access Memories

My thoughts on the new Daft Punk album as I listened to it for the first time. Its currently streaming for free on itunes 1 week before official release.

---

1) Give Life Back To Music- FUNKY

2) The Game of Love- slow dance funk.

3) Giorgio by Moroder- Ive had this in my head ever since hearing the leek. Fucking amazing when the beat drops. This will be a single minus the talking intro. BTW this is kinda Tron meets funk. HOLY HELL THE BEAT DROPPED AGAIN! FRIGGIN WOW!

4) Within- piano beginning. Robots singing. This is a slow dance. So far this album needs more of an uplifting feel to it to make it more awesome.

5) Instant Crush- instant uplift. It has that magical feeling that stardust has, but more indie somehow. Kinda Sonic the Hedgehog. The song has a slow beat. this is becoming a trend on the album.

6) Lose Yourself to Dance- slow beat- AGAIN!! AghHHHHHH!!!!! Think Prince. In fact why isnt it Prince singing? seriously?!

7) Touch- takes time getting into the song. Still waiting. spacy and weird. OK the singing has started. boring. OK here we go; the funk dropped. Keep expecting to hear "SHAFT!". OK its gone boring again. And there we go Its back, this section is quite cool. Its gone slow again. Its gone weird and spacy again. Not bad (not instantly great either). This is going to need a few more listen toos me thinks. Ok we need to wave lighters in the air now. crappy ending. erhayaaaaaacgggghhh yuck.

8) Get Lucky- HOLY SHIT THAT INTRO. ooh interesting midsection. WHA WHAT!? That bit was sweet. BUILD UP THAT FAILED IN THE RADIO EDIT. COME ON DONT DISAPPOINT! BAH Ive done this song better. Fuck i was expecting more somehow. FUCK.

9) Beyond- slow. fed up of this non dance album. *yawns*

10) Motherboard- Royksopp? slow again. Seriously this sounds like a Royksopp song. weird watery midsection

11) Fragments of Time- FUNK. still slow. Driving song in the warm breeze. Single quality

12) Doin' it Right- slow but really really cool. Indie flavours. nice and simple song.

13) Contact- uses NASA sound files. This is like their Tron songs again. wow this song has a fast-ish paced beat! too little too late.

---

This album is like Daft Punk shooting themselves in the foot on purpose (maybe both feet). Its like they didn't want to make a dance album, and are saying screw you to the fans and the industry they helped create. Bah. Stick to Discovery folks. You're wasting your time with this one. Still waiting for another Discovery. They definitely have it in them to do it again, but like I said its like they don't want too. I may not buy this. Needs to grow on me but probably wont. I take it funk isn't suppose to make you dance? Thats the impression I get from this anyway.

---

EDIT-
IT GREW ON ME.
Its a mellow album. Easy listening. Sort of like a spiritual sequel to Air's Moon Safari. Its something you don't always choose to listen too in one hit, but when playing on shuffle on your ipod/walkman/phone/whatever and it switches to playing one of these songs unexpectedly it will definitely give you a genuine smile

EDIT ONE WEEK LATER-
I don't think I have ever quite experienced such a change of heart for an album as I have for this. Once you get over the fact its not a dance album, MY GOD its a good album.

REVIEW: Music Folder Player for Android

I friggin love this Android music player. Unfortunately we are living in an age where music players are constantly trying to "sort" your music for you, just to make that little bit extra sure that you will never in your life find the track or album you want to listen too.

Fuck off 'Albums'
Fuck you 'Genres'
Fucking get out of my life 'Artists'
F off 'Composers'

For the love of god "Playlists", I already had my music sorted before you came along.

Fuck that system.

FILES AND FOLDERS. WHEN WILL THE INDUSTRY LEARN.

Folders are named by the respective album that mp3s belong too. Mp3 files are named by the song name, and just to make sure that the files stay in its track-listing order, the file name/song name starts with a number.

It is easy and manageable. No fuss. if I want to listen to the GITS SAC OST, I just locate to-
Music>Japan>Ghost In The Shell>Stand Alone Complex> 001 Be Human.mp3

If I want to listen to my favourite Kids on the slope track, I just browse the folders-
Music>Japan>Kids on the Slope> 16 Lullaby Of Birdland.mp3

I just got my first smartphone so naturally i needed to find a bloody music player that gives a nice two fingers up at the industry standard. Up until now I was managing to get by using my old Creative Mp3 player, as thankfully I was able to browse my music in files and folders when i located to the 16 gig SD card. The only thing that I got pissed with was having to locate to songs from the get go after turning the system on.

Before then I was still the user of MD Walkmans.

Now im the user of Music Folder Player for Android. WOW not only do I find tracks in a piss easy fashion, but the songs start from where i left off (WOO HOO YES!!!).
But then there is something else. When listening via headphones, the music sounds SOOO MUCH BETTER then my old Creative. Its exactly like back in the day with MD crystal clear sound.

Im hearing so much more sound its unreal.

Im a very happy bunny right now.
